I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a special high tea party at the grand opening of Sorelle and Co.’s new Yorkville location this week. What an experience it was! You may have seen my Instagram posts and stories the past couple of days – It was unbelievably beautiful and I had the best time with a few of my planner friends!
This location maintains the same aesthetics as their flagship store in Vaughan, albeit a bit smaller and no second floor, with their beautiful décor, Royal Albert China, and eclectic flatware, it is a must visit if you’re in the area! However, if you do get a chance to head up to Vaughan, definitely check out their flagship location too. Just look for a petite, white, historic house with pastel blue swings, french white patio furniture, and you will find yourself immersed in a glamorous confectionary-loving world. I guarantee you will be in awe with every single detail!
It’s no secret that I have an obsession with this company and their delicious goodies. Recently, I was asked why I love Sorelle and Co. so much and what’s with my obsession?! Is it just because it’s pretty? To be honest, I had to think about it for a minute and so I decided to write this blog to tell you just that…..
Aside from all the prettiness this place offers, I really truly believe in their products. Sorelle and Co., is a all about serving healthy, worry-free ingredients, in sophistication.
I first discovered Sorelle and Co., through Instagram earlier this year around January 2017. Posts from their Instagram randomly showed up on my feed and I instantly fell in love! They had images of these beautiful desserts on the oh so delicate Royal Albert Miranda Kerr chinaware (which I have at home too!) It didn’t even occur to me that this place would be in the GTA, until I clicked on their link and was pleasantly surprised that they were in town and only about 10 minutes away from my parent’s home! I told the hubs about it and dashed over there the next day.
Soon, I found myself stopping by on a weekly basis trying out every savoury dish and dessert on the menu. O M G ! I couldn’t believe how beautiful everything looked AND tasted!
I felt like I was in an allergy-free heaven. Every item on the menu is gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, nut-free, and sesame-free, with no preservatives and made with whole ingredients. Why is this such a big deal? Well, about 2 years ago I became intolerant to practically every food I used to love and it was devastating. I had developed an allergy to dairy, eggs, fish, almonds, soy and among a few others. For those of you who knew me well before, would know that I lovvvvved cheese and ice cream and I’ve always had a major sweet tooth. So to find out I couldn’t eat any of these foods anymore was not only heartbreaking but a huge challenge for me. It took awhile to adjust to this new lifestyle. Savoury dishes were easier to create, but desserts were tough. I started looking into places that offered vegan desserts, but sadly the few that I tried did not taste the same and I was so disappointed. Then I tried to make some at home on my own, total fail. (P.S. I really suck at baking!).
When I learnt about the story behind Sorelle and Co., I fell in love with the company even more! The owner, Sandra told me all about her story personally. She is a mother of five young girls and each were plagued by food allergies including gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, and nuts. The youngest suffered so much and was always getting sick. Sandra decided to take action and started experimenting with recipes, spending hours, days, and years researching and following vegan chefs and bloggers. Unfortunately, a lot of vegan recipes do call for soy-based products and nut-based ingredients. Motivated by her daughters’ dietary needs, she set out to create a unique and safe place that all children could enjoy without the worry. Listening to her story and learning how heartbreaking it was to see her daughter suffer, really touched my heart.
This is why I love Sorelle and Co.
There is truly something for everyone here and no need to wonder, “What’s in that?” or “Can I eat this?” (unless you have other odd food limitations like me, with raspberry and pineapple), this is the kind of place where you can enjoy a variety of delectables without worrying. Plus, everything about this place is totally Instagram worthy!
I did learn a few new things about the company from this visit:
- They now have a distribution center in Markham where they do all their mass baking and cake making for all their stores. Sorelle and Co., can now take on larger orders for any event! So this is huge and I am so excited about this! Check out their website and instagram for more info: http://sorelleandco.com/ and https://www.instagram.com/sorelleandco/
- They print their stationary in house! Have you SEEN their stationary?!? It’s impressive.
- They feed their staff with food from their own kitchen, so the staff does not need to worry about bringing their lunches! This is also a safety precaution to avoid any risk of cross-contamination of ingredients in their store! That’s amazing! How considerate, Sorelle!
By no means am I being paid or sponsored to write this post – I’m simply a happy customer and truly believe in their products. I hope you’ll fall madly in love with Sorelle and Co., just as I have!
Stay healthy, eat well, and be kind to one another! <3
